Services

Obedience:
The course is one hour a week for 6 weeks. I teach Basic Commands, plus a few extra's if time permits.

Watch Me, Sit, Sit/Stay, Come, Down, Down/Stay, Give, Leave It, Paw, Crawl, and Roll.

I cover Basic Dog Psychology as well as resolving any behavioral issues the owners maybe experiencing with their dog.

Backpacks:

Are used during daily walks, treadmill exercise or biking. Backpacks accelerate the time spent exercising. 30 minutes of walking with a backpack is equivalent to a one hour walk without a backpack.

Boarding:

Perfect Paws is located in the heart of the majestic Cumberland Plateau area of Tennessee. We have 17 sprawling acres of wooded property with picturesque views of the Cumberland Plateau.

There are winding trails meandering through the woods, as well as a year-round running creek. Several waterfalls can be heard cascading from the bluff. This is truly a resort for your dogs. Daily hikes through the woods are provided, as well as activity's, such as playing ball or treadmill training.

Perfect Paws provides a home environment atmosphere for your dogs. No kennels! All dogs are treated like our family. Small dogs are kept inside my home, and Medium and Large dogs are housed in a 5,000 sq. ft. fenced area. The area includes shade, a 6'x8' insulated dog house built from fireproof Hardy Board planks, and a shingled roof.

Hay inside the doghouse provides a soft, warm, and cozy area to snuggle in. Fresh water is always available. The area is maintained several times a day, to ensure that your pet has a clean and safe play area during his/her stay.
Reservations are required in advance since space is limited.

Your dog will never be housed with strange dogs, so booking ahead is important. Discounts for multiple dogs are available.

Requirements for Boarding: proof of current vaccinations; dogs must be non-aggressive to both humans and other dogs, unless your dog is here for rehabilitation; liability release forms must be signed.

Agility:

Potty Training:

Outside only. No pee pad training. Puppies (over 3 months) and adult dogs.

Below are some photos of my property.

Treadmill Training:
I use the treadmill in conjunction with a structured exercise program.

Any dog in relatively good health can use a treadmill. Please consult your veterinarian first.

I have trained dogs from Chihuahuas to Greyhounds and everything in between.

Private Session:

Available in the privacy of your own home. Occasionally, I do private sessions at my home.

I help the dog owner to understand how a dog thinks. This helps the owner to convey a better line of communication with their dog. By having a better communication, most
behavioral issues are resolved in a relatively short period of time.

I instruct the owner on techniques that will open the line communication between them and their dog. These techniques are practiced during the session, so the client feels comfortable using them.

American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator

A.K.C. has certified me to test dogs for the Canine Good Citizen Program. Canine Good Citizen Program is a two part program that is designed to:

1) Teach responsible dog ownership to owners

2) Certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well - behaved members of their families and communities.

The purpose of the CGC Program is to ensure that the dog, can be a respected member of the community because it has been trained to be well behaved in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. The CGC Program welcomes both purebred and mixed bred dogs.

Large and medium dogs have an outside area of 5,000 sq. ft. of shaded play area. The dog house is 6' x 8' in size.  It  is L shaped inside to protect the dogs from wind and rain. It also is insulated with R-13 fiberglass and 1/2" plywood,  and loose hay for bedding.  The large door on the back of the dog house, is for easy access to the inside for cleaning and loading the hay.
